OTTAWA ART GALLERY CELEBRATES MAJOR DONATION BY GERALD TROTTIER ESTATE

The Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) is acquiring its largest ever donation of work by a single artist, Gerald Trottier.

Thanks to a generous donation by the artist’s wife, Irma Trottier, the OAG is acquiring a significant body of work from the 1940s through to the 1990s including early social realist watercolours, sketches, prints, drawings, collages, and major paintings such as his Easter Series and São Paulo works.*

“This donation improves our understanding of the depth of Trottier’s considerable artistic ability and shows the diverse subject matter he addressed throughout his career,” says OAG Senior Curator Catherine Sinclair.

To celebrate, from April 10 to June 14, 2014, OAG’s ART Rental and Sales presents, Perspective: Gerald Trottier, an exhibition that features some of the Gallery’s recent acquisitions and other Trottier works available for sale. All are welcome to celebrate the occasion at a reception and donation launch on April 24, 2014 at 5:30 p.m
